Don't switch off for summer . . .
Cornwall College Camborne will be throwing open its doors next week (June 30) to give prospective students the chance to get the advice they need for their future career and sign up for courses starting this September.
Those who attend the event, which runs from 10am until 12pm at the College's Campus Central on Saturday 30 June, will be able to get a feel for student life when they meet staff and students, visit departments and gather information from tutors on the range of courses and specialist facilities available at the College.
The College is communicating the message that ‘there's more for you at Cornwall College' with visitors being offered financial advice, information regarding learning support, student Xtra activities and the Academy Sports Programme as well as learning about various career options. Student Services staff will also be on hand to provide visitors with more information about the College's latest offer of free transport for eligible students with household incomes of less than £31,000 per annum.
Visitors can also get a special viewing of the annual Arts and Media Summer Exhibition of students' work, which officially opens on Monday 25 June, located in the College's Tamar and Proctor buildings. Plus, visitors can find out more about the newly launched Academy Nathan Outlaw at Cornwall College and take a tour of the campus' catering and hospitality facilities.
Over at the Brunel building, Faculty of Technology staff and tutors will be holding a lunchtime barbecue, as well as providing course information, advice and demonstrations to prospective students interested in engineering, construction, automotive and technology courses and careers.
Mahala Smith, 19 and originally from Lymington, is currently studying a foundation degree in Sport, Health & Fitness at Cornwall College Camborne. She said: "I chose to come to Cornwall College because of the excellent facilities here, some of which you can't find elsewhere. The tutors are really friendly, helpful and supportive and I've had so many opportunities to do things at the College that I don't think you'd get anywhere else, like the Student Ambassador scheme I take part in. It's a really great place to come."
Cornwall College Camborne offers both full and part-time courses in Arts, Media & Publishing, Business Administration & Law, Construction, Planning & the Built Environment, Engineering & Manufacturing Technologies, Early Years, GCSEs & A-levels, Health, Public Services & Care, Information Technology, Leisure, Sport & Tourism, Retail & Commercial Enterprise, Science and Mathematics.
