ANIMAL MANAGEMENT & VETERINARY NURSING
Duchy College has a full range of Animal Care and Veterinary Nursing programmes, based at Rosewarne and Stoke Climsland and taught by staff with lots of experience in the animal industry. We have excellent up-to-date practical facilities on each campus, housing a vast range of animals which includes reptiles, amphibians and fish, domestic animals, rabbits, rodents, birds and farm livestock. Our students have plenty of opportunity to learn about the handling, housing, dietary needs, health care, breeding and behaviour of these species during practical lessons, backed up with theory lessons in the classroom, to provide an excellent grounding in this rewarding career.
The College has strong links with the animal industry across the south-west, including Paradise Park (at Hayle), Newquay Zoo, Blue Reef Aquarium, Looe Monkey Sanctuary, and numerous Veterinary practices across Cornwall and Devon. Every student is expected to gain experience of working in industry as an integral part of their learning programme and progress in the work place is regularly monitored by our Work Experience Co-ordinator.
