MOODLE
Cornwall College Group currently uses "Moodle" a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) to support a fast growing number of it's learners on-line. It does this for a variety of reasons, the most common of which is to add value to students studying conventionally by providing a 24/7 access to important learning and administrative documentation and by enabling 'out-of-hours' student and staff collaboration through discussion boards, email and chat rooms.
It also allows course managers to blend traditional teaching methods with IT-based methods to provide even more variety in the way in which course are taught. With a number of Cornwall College courses the use of IT also makes it possible to facilitate a wider variety of course options than would be possible through conventional teaching methods.
The use of IT has enabled many students who would not or could not attend College to participate in post-compulsory education and training by providing a solid and consistent distance learning opportunity.
Why not try out Moodle for yourself? There is a course called "Student Induction", which you can view as a guest (click the 'Login as Guest' button). All other courses will require registration which you would receive as part of the student induction process.
