Student Support and the Tutorial System
While you are at College your Tutor is responsible for monitoring your progress on your course and your general welfare.

Your Tutor will work closely with you through tutorials, building an Individual Learning Plan, reviewing and recording your progress and achievements and helping you map out your future.

You will also have a Senior Tutor, for additional help and guidance. Your Tutor will introduce and refer you to your Senior Tutor. When you enrol you will receive a Student Progress File which will contain more detailed information.

Study Support
If you have any problems about any aspect of your studies you can get confidential, experienced advice from a Study Support tutor. You can work one to one or in small course related groups to develop your skills and improve your grades.

Study Support is student centred which means we work on what is important to you. If you need any support or you would just like to have a chat, ask Student Services for details of our Study Support.

Adult Guidance
Duchy College Adult Guidance Service offers free help and advice to any person wishing to further their education. Many people will be unaware of the range of opportunities available at the College. The guidance process aims to heighten this awareness so ensuring that potential students are in a position to make informed choices based on accurate information. Every effort is made to ensure that students enrol on courses which meet their requirements.

The Guidance Service exists to help you explore the available options and to advise you on any aspect of learning. If you want to return to study, but do not know how, we are here to help. Our aim is to make you welcome and to help you realise that attending a course can be fun.

Counselling Services

All full time students will have a Tutor and a Senior Tutor. They are there to support you and are always a good first step if you run into problems. Alternatively, there is access to a range of specialist counsellors who operate on and off the site. If you request this service (through your Senior Tutor) an appointment can be made for you quickly and confidentially.

There will always be someone here for you. If you want to find out more please pick up the leaflet on counselling from the display stands in any of the Student Services reception areas.
