CHILDCARE & EARLY YEARS
Increasing numbers of parents and guardians of young children continuing or returning to work has prompted a rapid expansion in the need for childcare provision. Young children and their families deserve a high quality service provided by well-qualified staff.
You could have a very rewarding career working in this field. At work you would be responsible for the emotional, physical and social development of children in your care. You will contribute formally and informally to the assessment of the children’s individual needs and identify problems that need special attention. This means working both independently, and alongside teachers, health visitors, social workers and therapists, parents, guardians and families.
New to the Childcare department are Waynetta and José, virtual babies whose every need must be satisfied if you want a peaceful time with them! They ensure that students are very well prepared before they take part in a work placement programme.
Following your studies with us, you could progress on to higher education to become a nurse or an early years teacher; or you could go straight into employment working in a nursery, pre-school or school; you could work with children with special needs, private families or holiday companies. There has been an increasing demand for male employees in this field by employers. We welcome all applications from everyone who is interested in pursuing a career in childcare.
