AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING
Housed in the new £5million building equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the department provides you with wide-ranging knowledge and skills in vehicle bodywork, mechanics and electronics that can be of benefit for a career in the automotive industry or for personal interest.
Large and spacious modern workshops are used for teaching, while strong links with local and national industry, Honda and Proton especially, provide you with new vehicles and motors to work and learn from.
You will benefit from fully functioning spray booths (with mixing schemes), a well stocked parts department, body repair centre, major accident repair equipment and electronic analysis equipment.
The department is constantly looking for new ways to ensure that you get the best practical and varied experiences to help you achieve your goals. For the last few years we have been involved in the Cornish leg of the National Rally Car Championships, with the department being used as a pit stop for the rally cars. And if it is not just the fast new cars you are interested in, the department has bought a 1926 Model T Ford 1 ton truck for vehicle restoration students to work on and return to its former glory.
