Support is at hand for small to medium size food producers in the Tamar Valley with a project just starting.

Its aim is to work with local producers, even those producing small quantities but of good quality, so that their produce can be marketed to its full potential to local people, shops and restaurants.

The Tamar Valley has a long heritage of small scale food production and this project aims to encourage the re-establishment of small scale market gardens, and enhance the local distinctiveness of the Valley by supporting food producers with a website that will market their food and maximise the opportunity for the local consumer to buy local as often as he may wish. Project officers will also be on hand to discuss other useful business matters with the producers to further support them.

This is a great opportunity for all those involved with food production in the Parishes of Calstock, St Dominic, Landulph, Bere Ferrers and Buckland Monochorum to work with officers leading this project at the Tamar AONB at Drakewalls, to market and coordinate this important business sector. Local produce that is good quality and produced in anenvironmentally friendly way with fewer food miles than those supplied nationally, is growing in popularity.

Working with Tamar Grow Local, who is also keen to create new markets along the beautiful valley to sell the produce, we are very keen to hear from you and will visit you to discuss this exciting opportunity for you and your business.
