Penzance Teens get a Taste of Duchy College
DUCHY College Rosewarne welcomed students from Penwith Pupil Referral Unit in Penzance this week as they got the chance to explore the College and find out about the courses on offer.
Carol Knight, Curriculum Area Manager for Animal Care & Veterinary Nursing, treated the students to a hands-on session in the exotics room where they got to meet some of the College’s more unusual inhabitants and learn more about them.
Jeremy Cole, the group’s teacher, said: “It’s really great to have the opportunity to come in and explore the College grounds and find out what’s on offer. The students need to know that they have future options locally and it’s been a worthwhile visit.”
The group were also given a tour of the Rosewarne campus and advice on courses and careers.
The Penwith Pupil Referral Unit educates pupils who are disengaged with school for a range of reasons.
Andrew Counsell, Head of Duchy College, said: “We are always happy to host sessions like this. It’s important for youngsters to know what courses are available to them and explore all the options.”
