Over 200 Pupils Enjoy College Life for a Day

Duchy College Stoke Climsland threw open its doors to welcome secondary school pupils from across the county, for its annual Experience Days. Pupils were given the opportunity to experience what college life is like, and get a taste of some of the activities students at Duchy College get up to.

The pupils from Sir James Smith in Camelford, Fowey, Brannel and Penrice were given the chance to try their hands at a whole host of activities including digger driving, reptile handling, dog grooming, tractor driving, livestock management, sausage making, climbing, archery and much more in a fun and action packed day, that could start them on the road to successful and fulfilling careers.

The main aim of the day was for the pupils, and teachers, to get a real feel for what life is life for a student at Duchy College, and to explore the many opportunities that are available to them. They not only had the chance for some hands-on practical sessions but also got to talk to staff, take a look around the College at the array of facilities that Stoke Climsland has on offer.

Head of Duchy College, Andrew Counsell said: "We are really pleased to be able to open our doors to schools around Cornwall and Devon to give pupils an experience of college life. The feedback we have received so far has been very positive from both staff and students and we hope it has shown them what options they have and what is available to them after school."
