DUCHY COLLEGE HOME FARM

Home Farm, near Stoke Climsland campus has been running for over 25 years and continues to be a succesful enterprise for Duchy College.

James Coumbe is the College's Farm Director and employs skilled and qualified staff, some of which are ex-students from Duchy College to maintain high standards of farming.

Current students often use the facilities at Home Farm for pratical session to gain knowledge and expertise in the farm industry. This 267 hectare the farm supports a dairy herd of 288 cows, 200 breeding ewes, beef rearing/finishing units and British Lop pigs.

The farm also grows potatoes and cereal crops, and is used extensively for teaching purposes. Home Farm provides an ideal location for extensive national/regional trials and research projects offering students and farmers first hand experience and up to date research.

Duchy College works very closely with many industrial partners to offer students work placement opportunities, study visits and additional qualifications not just in Cornwall but also in Europe - Sweden, Germany, France and Ireland.
