About the course

This course offers an introduction to cheese making for complete beginners.

A practical course providing an introduction to cheese making and led by cheese expert Dr Liz Whitley. It is aimed at complete beginners or those that have had a go and would like to improve their cheese making. 

What will I do on the course?

You will learn how to make soft cheeses and also have a basic introduction to hard cheese making. You will look at the start of the cheese making process and discuss milk, starter, rennet, materials and equipment. Curd formation and treatments will be covered then finishing the cheese; hooping, salting, draining and pressing.

 Lunch and drinks are provided.

What can I do after the course?

All recipes used on the day will be suitable for making cheese at home.

You may wish to consider attending the Adding Value to Dairy - Introduction Day course at Duchy College, Stoke Climsland on the 26th November 2014.
