There's still time to apply for courses starting this September with places available on various courses at Duchy College.

For any nervous teens that will be receiving their GCSE or A-level results this month and are undecided about their next step, the College's campuses at Rosewarne and Stoke Climsland are open over the summer and welcome any enquiries.

There are opportunities to study an entry-level course right up to degrees and with extended diplomas being equivalent to three A-levels this can be an alternative route to university.

John Cuthbertson, from Helston, completed the Animal Management Extended Diploma this summer and is looking forward to moving on to his next step. John said: “I studied the course with the aim to go to university, after that I want to work abroad in a zoo or safari park - in training, enrichment and behaviour. Duchy College offered me the best chance to get where I want to go and I’d heard really good things about the teaching.”

Michael Bugden, from Mylor, is a Land-based Engineering Apprentice at Vincent Tractors. Michael added: “I wanted to get myself a trade and this was the best place to come, there’s a lot of practical work and that makes it easier to learn. The tutors are good; it’s just like having a friend, they are reliable, easy to talk to and if you’ve got a problem they are always straight there to sort it out.”

If you have any course queries over the summer, whether that be a new enquiry, receiving better results than you expected or if you are disappointed with your results please call the College on 0845 60 50 455 to discuss your options.

Duchy College offers full and part-time courses in Agriculture, Animal Management & Veterinary Nursing, Business, Childcare & Playwork, Countryside, Equine Studies, Food, Horticulture & Floristry, Land-based Engineering & Construction Plant, Outdoor Pursuits, Public Services, Sport and Skills for Life.

Andrew Counsell, Head of Duchy College, said: “Students undertaking a vocational route with us leave the College with skills, qualifications and experience relevant to industry. Our specialist courses are taught by expert tutors, with many being experts in their field, and we are committed to providing a quality education for all.”
