Over seventy students from Cornwall College St Austell took to the ice at the Eden Project recently.

The students, all studying Hairdressing and Holistic Therapy courses at the College descended on the Eden Project for a morning of fun and teambuilding away from their normal study to ice skate and spend time looking around Eden, thanks to the Student Xtra programme at Cornwall College.

John Latham, Principal of Cornwall College said: "Our Student Xtra programme covers a wide range of social, community and sporting activities which allows students at the College to try new activities. In this programme we are delighted to offer students the opportunity to go on an organised trip to the Eden Project to have some fun on the ice and look around the amazing biomes and educational resources."

Sonia Baron, Student Xtra Co-ordinator said: "These students are hard at work in the Salons when most of the student Xtra activities are taking place, this special trip for Hairdressing and Holistic Therapy students has enabled them to join in the fun. We try to accommodate as many students as possible in Student Xtra. Today's trip to Eden has been fantastic."

Daisy Holder, (16) from St Austell, on the Hairdressing NVQ 2 and working in Kathy's hair salon in Mount Charles said: "I was excited when I heard about the trip; this is my first time visiting Eden. It's pretty good to have a day out of College."

Jemma Hartley, (17) from Summercourt also on the Hairdressing NVQ 2 at the College and working at Sarah Louise hair salon in Truro said: "Yes it's been really great ice skating."
