A new website from Unlocking Cornish Potential (UCP), Cornwall's graduate placement programme, is being dubbed, "the site dedicated to helping you find your graduate job." www.gradcornwall.co.uk is a website which has been purpose built by UCP to provide an all-encompassing job-hunting resource.

The project has been supported by The European Social Fund (ESF) and is developed by UCP, which is a Combined Universities in Cornwall partnership project, managed by Cornwall College and part funded by the European Social Fund. UCP has had great success over the last 10 years, working with hundreds of businesses and placing around 900 graduates and now www.gradcornwall.co.uk is the online platform where talented graduates and forward-thinking, growing Cornish businesses can meet. So whether you’re looking for a job, an internship, work experience, networking or just to find out more about the graduate employers in the County – this site is for you.
Nicky Luke is UCP’s Head of Head of Graduate Recruitment, Training and Employability. She explains why www.gradcornwall.co.uk is so important:

GradCornwall is the one-stop-shop for advertising and applying for graduate level jobs and careers in Cornwall. We’d urge anyone looking for a career in Cornwall, now or in the future to register. The site is designed to support students, undergraduates and graduates alike who are searching and applying for jobs in Cornwall as well as being a go-to site for recruitment advice and support which can boost their chances of success (CV advice, Stand Out From The Crowd employability course, interview hints and insider pointers). Plus, you can make connections with employers so it really is an essential job-hunting toolkit.

Currently, graduates are being offered an added incentive to register at www.gradcornwall.co.uk as the site has the backing of the Relentless Boardmasters Festival. A pair of VIP passes (weekend tickets for 10th - 12th August 2012) are on offer for Europe’s only surf, skate and music festival, at Watergate Bay. Any graduate who registers before 20th July will go into a free prize draw to win the tickets. (Terms and conditions apply. Details on the website).

GradCornwall is also proving a vital resource for businesses in Cornwall too. UCP vacancies are already live on the site and businesses are enjoying the benefits! The website enables companies to advertise for graduate-level vacancies and is a fantastic platform to manage the entire recruitment process from advertising to shortlisting and arranging interviews. Employers also have the option to browse graduate profiles for suitable candidates and communicate with them at the click of a button. As a registered company, you can create a business profile so graduates can find you too. The UCP recruitment team are also on hand to provide sound advice on everything from the copy in your advert to the legality of your job description. Nicky Luke says by promoting jobs and helping graduates and businesses to find each other it’s a great fit for UCP:

The UCP programme was born out of the need to match ambitious graduates with progressive Cornish companies to fuel innovation, growth, creativity, competitiveness and economic prosperity in Cornwall. With more than 10 years experience of placing graduates with businesses, we’ve seen how taking on a graduate really does boost growth. On average, we’ve found turnover increases by well over £100,000 so we see GradCornwall as a crucial step to support and nurture the local economy.

So, what students, graduates and businesses should do now? Register at www.gradcornwall.co.uk! Graduates should register before July 20th to enter the free prize draw for VIP Boardmasters 2012 tickets. Graduates will only be able to apply for job roles once they’re registered with a full online profile.
