Who is this course for?
This course is primarily intended to lead to a career within the marine industries, particularly within marine engineering or a marine design environment or for anyone looking to seek a career or has an interest within one of the specialist modules which are covered in this course that will lead into specific areas of interest. It will provide a challenging programme of study that will enable learners to develop the concepts, knowledge, skills and techniques required for today's engineering industry. Specialised modules relevant to the marine engineering and design industries in which learners are employed, and a platform for a successful career development will be covered also. This course will provide students with a qualification that will allow progression to a BSc Marine Sports Technology programme with Plymouth University.
Entry requirements
120 UCAS from relevant related subject areas and GCSE grade C or above in English, maths and science.

What will I be doing on the course?
The programme has been designed to provide you with an understanding of marine technology within the context of the fast moving arena of marine related industries.
It will equip you with the skills and knowledge required to work in your chosen specialism. It is also a platform from which you can undertake additional vocational and academic qualifications.
You will also have the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of learning experiences such as field trips, outside lectures, practical training and online discussion forums.
Teaching and learning will be through a number of practical activities and formal lessons with visits to relevant marine industry companies.
What can I do after the course?
Foundation Degree graduates have a wide choice of career opportunities throughout the private and public sectors, both in the United Kingdom and abroad, where there are a range of opportunities within industrial and commercial organisations where a broad-based and work-related education is desirable.
