How is the course studied at this venue? - The FdA in Hospitality Management is a two year full time programme offered over two days a week and it is offered with two themes - Hospitality Management and Cruise ship Operations, and it is expected that potential students will choose one route, or another. For applicants who wish to follow a contemporary Hospitality pathway you will find that there are plenty of Hospitality modules to challenge you and is designed for those who wish to develop and expand their understanding of the hospitality, catering and leisure industry with the view to joining the industry at management level, or offering an excellent grounding for those who wish to secure and operate their own catering establishment successfully. The Faculty for Retail and Services offers modern learning facilities and high quality teaching in both academic and vocational subject relating to the hotel and catering industry. The Faculty boasts close links with most of the major companies and organisations that shape the industry at local, national and international levels. A number of these players will feature in support of your studies and have evidenced their commitment to your education by sponsoring awards for the themes that you intend to follow. Who is this course for?
This course is designed for those who wish to work in any sector of the hospitality industry. The course is multi-disciplinary with a vocational bias designed by academics and the business community. This course is ideal for those who wish to follow a career in hospitality, or are currently working in any sector of the hospitality or tourism sector, nationally or internationally.
Entry requirements
120 UCAS points from A-levels, a BTEC National Diploma, Access to Higher Education Diploma or an NVQ Level 3 in a relevant subject area or equivalent.

What will I be doing on the course?
So that you can join the industry fit for purpose and ready to embrace the word of work straight out of university, we design our programme content with the help of employers within the sector. This is successfully achieved through regular hands-on experience throughout the programme, combined with lectures and in-class debates to support the theoretical side of your development.
The large and high quality hospitality facilities that Cornwall College has to offer coupled with the wealth of industry experts who the College have connections with in Cornwall, makes this programme incredibly industry-appropriate for anyone wanting to succeed in the multi-million pound business that tourism and hospitality represents.
By combining formal lectures with hands-on experience regularly throughout the programme we believe you will become adept at applying critical thinking to practical tourism scenarios. As a department we are committed to making the tourism industry more sustainable applying the concepts of one planet tourism, which is why there is a strong element of this throughout all the modules.
Lectures take place two to three days per week in a class size of around twenty. You will be assessed through a variety of methods including exams, course work, assignments, practical work and presentations.
What can I do after the course?
This course is ideal for those who wish to follow or progress in a career in one of the many travel and tourism areas such as attraction or facility management, the hotel or accommodation sector, public sector tourism, tour representatives or operations, retail travel and also diverse areas of tourism such as resort based occupations, heritage management and the marketing function within a variety of leisure and tourism organisations both nationally and internationally.
