PERSONAL STATEMENT

Your personal statement is a key part of your UCAS application form, as it is the only opportunity you have, other than your interview, to talk directly to admissions tutors.

It’s up to you how you write your statement, but it’s useful to include the following:

  • Why have you chosen the subject?
  • What interests you about it?
  • What have you read in relation to the subject?
  • What does the course include?
  • Where could studying the course lead to?

Other things worth considering including:

  • You need to demonstrate your ability to study on the course
  • Consider your academic studies
  • Include any voluntary work, relevant work experience, project work
  • Mention your hobbies and interests
  • Include special achievements, significant responsibilities (in clubs and societies)

There is more guidance on writing your personal statement on the UCAS website.
