Course Studied: Marine Engineering & Design BTEC Nationals Programme
From: Kent
At school my best subjects were science and maths and I used to spend most of my spare time taking apart any engine that I could get hold of - and turning it into something else.
I saw an article in a magazine about the Traditional Boatbuilding course at Falmouth Marine School and got hold of the prospectus to find out more. I had designed a couple of boats before but wanted to know how to do it properly. The design part of the course involves a lot of maths and science which I've really enjoyed and I've also liked the practical bits of the course.
I'd started surfing the summer before so it was really appealing that the course was in Cornwall. I've been sailing in the luggers that the Traditional Boatbuilding students build and have also done a lot of watersports.
Once I finish the course I'd like to go on to the Boat Design & Production Foundation Degree at the College.
