A student at Cornwall College St Austell has recently started an apprenticeship at the site after completing two years at College.

Jordan Parsons, 20, previously of Sir James Smith Community School started his sporting qualifications on a level 1 sport course which took one year to complete and helped him increase his key Maths and English skills, he then progressed onto and completed his level 2 and 3 fitness and personal training certificates all within a year.

Jordan has now progressed onto a level 3 apprenticeship and actually works in the fitness suite at the college. Due to his enthusiasm and commitment the gym has had more members and increased its opening hours, he has also recently started up some personal training tests and programmes for students, staff and the public.

When asked about his college experience he said: “My whole college experience has been pretty amazing, it has been a real challenge but I feel like I have achieved a lot and am looking forward to using the skills I have learnt in the future.”

Dave Linnell, Principal of Cornwall College said: “Jordan is proof that if you work hard and dedicate yourself you can achieve highly. We are very proud of his achievements, as they are a testament to the quality of teaching within the college.”
