Work History
1999 to Present: Alistair has responsibilties for Garden and Landscape Design and Garden and Landscape History. He is Manager for the part time route of the Foundation Degree Horticulture and is personal tutor to modular students. He has good local contacts that enable the college to liase with garden owners and other people who influence the role of horticulture in the South West and other parts of England.
His teaching and pratical skills are especially important in delivery of course material.

Research Details
Alistair is at present studying for a Masters Degree in Garden History and Landscape at Greenwich University London. He is undertaking the course over two years and in the second year will research the autheticity of Historic Garden Landscapes. This dissertation will look at the importance of landscape and the planting with refernce to owner aspirations and visitor appreciation. A further part of the degree will assess and disect a named historic landscape and Alistair has chosen to look at Mount Edgcumbe Estate and country park once part of Deveon but since 1842 Cornwall.
Alistair has completed research into the germination of Vicia and allied genera.He is currently involved with the development of a databse for the historical collection at Trewithen Gardens. This database work will also enable him to write a programme and database for the Cornwall Orchard Project. Part of the Countryside Department CCC developing initiative to support historic orchard preservation. Researching the History of Trewithen Gardens Grampound Road Truro Cornwall. Published October 2005 Guide Book to Trewithen gardens.
