Completed an Ma in Media and Cultural Studies with the Open University. This entailed research into many aspects of media and film theory with a particular emphasis on new media and post modernism. After the first year of study I gained a PG Cert in Social Science Research Methods which gave me the underpinning knowledge required for further study. I then went on to look at American Cinema and film theory, paying particular attention to researching the political impact of film on society and the corresponding influence of politics in film making. I then researched further into the genre of musicals and investigated their efficacy as a format through which to teach all film theory. This research enabled me to develop my practice and incorporate new ideas into my teaching. After two years I gained a PG Dip in Media and Cultural Studies. I then paused my study for twp years whilst working in local government.
I came back to the College in 2005 as a CAM and re-started my MA. Completion was a gruelling but rewarding process that I both enjoyed and detested at times. Overall I am glad to have had the opportunity for higher degree study and feel I have benefited a great deal from the process both personally and professionally.
