STUDENTS from Cornwall College St Austell put on a show fit for the Queen recently when they performed at this year's Royal Cornwall Show.

STUDENTS from Cornwall College St Austell put on a show fit for the Queen recently when they performed at this year’s Royal Cornwall Show.

The students, who are all studying dance and music courses at the College, provided a hotbed of music and entertainment for the crowds of visitors throughout the three day county show.

The Kelly’s of Bodmin stage played host to two of the College’s outstanding bands. The first year musicians ‘Cover 2 Cover’ band played a range of well-known hits with their own twist on the Thursday and on the Friday and Saturday Cornwall College Time Machine provided popular music from the Rock n Roll era to the present day.

The College’s Big Band took centre stage on the Western Morning News stage twice daily throughout the show playing a range of music from Adele and Jessie J to Cee Lo Green. Accompanied by the College’s own dance group, the crowd were left fully entertained.

The dancers also appeared on the Festival of Dance stage showcasing their traditional and modern toe-tapping moves, including some Morris Dancing.

Dave Linnell, Principal of Cornwall College, said: “We are proud to have our students involved in the county’s premier show and I know that every year they always look forward to entertaining visitors from across the county and beyond. It’s certainly an event for them to remember as it gives them a chance to showcase their musical talents.”

Also at the show this year the College had students from the Construction department demonstrating roofing, slating and tiling and Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy students pampering and styling the tresses of visitors.

“It was a great community event for the College to be involved with and we look forward to returning bigger and better next year,” added Dave.
