Flying Start offers double places

Colin Breed, MP for South East Cornwall, will officially open the new extended Flying Start Nursery on Friday 24th September at 10.00am. The nursery, based in Cornwall College Saltash, has recently undergone a major expansion and refurbishment initiative doubling the number of childcare places available.
With greater number of childcare places offered young expectant mothers and teenage parents are encouraged to stay within education with the assurance that their children are safe and happy. Steve Warnes, Head of College comments, "As a college we are committed to supporting our students training and education and it's great to give students the opportunity to continue their educational development knowing that their children are being cared for within the college campus. All this would not have been possible without investment support from the Objective One funding programme."
Flying Start Nursery now boasts a special baby unit that includes a larger 'play area', a bigger 'sleep room' and a dedicated 'babies' garden. Also included for babies is a new 'sensory room' : ideal for your little one to relax and be stimulated by light shows and touch and feel a wide range of objects designed to stimulate their senses! Toddlers can enjoy an expanded play and learning area that accommodates even more toys and educational facilities than before. In addition they can explore all aspects of learning around the garden, or just chill out in the magical wind-chime area and enjoy the sensuous smells from the herb garden! Staff also benefit from a new staffroom and kitchen facilities.
Judith Lidstone, Manager of Flying Start Nursery comments, "There is a high demand for childcare places within the local area and we are pleased that we can now accommodate 26 babies and toddlers (from 0 : 3 years) and 41 children (3 : 8 year olds). The new building gives the children a much larger play area and many exciting new facilities that will promote and encourage their learning." Guests at the official opening will enjoy a celebratory glass of champagne and witness the children setting off balloons to mark the occasion!
