Hair Show is tres magnifique!

Saltash College's annual Hair Show has a European theme this year - students visiting from France will be joining in the show, which is taking place on Tuesday 11th February at St Mellion Golf and Country Club, from 7.30pm.
Eleven French students, from Brest, are in Cornwall to find out about hairdressing in the UK. They have been visiting salons on a comparison trip to have a look at different styles, fashion ideas and techniques. They have also joined NVQ3 Hairdressing students at Saltash College to help them prepare for their annual hairshow.
This year's show - The Hair Collection - is keeping it simple: it's all about good hair. There will be 3 demonstrations - Colours and Cuts; Hair Up; and Curls. Student, Juliet Dowling (who is also compering the show) said, "This year we have concentrated on classic hair styles that people would come into a salon and ask for, rather than over-the-top catwalk styles."
There is a section of the show dedicated to showing the talents and fashion styles of the visiting French students. The show is organised entirely by twelve Hairdressing NVQ3 students - they have decided on the theme, organised the itinerary, booked the venue, found models and even borrowed evening dresses from Pam's People Eveningwear Direct.
Second year hairdressing students are also getting the chance to show their skills in their own section of the show called Explosion. Tutor, Mel Aldred explains, "Explosion is a section of the show that includes wacky, way out hair using extensions, hair pieces and mad colours. It is a chance for the students to go a bit mad and get their creativity going - you don't often get the chance to put in pink extensions!"
If you would like to go to the Hair Show at St Mellion on Tuesday 11th February, call 01752 850207. Tickets cost £5.00.
