Annual Duchy Golf Championships at St Mellion

A field of around forty golfers took part in the Annual Duchy College Golf Championships staged at St Mellion on 14th October. Competitors included first and second years on the National Diploma in Sport (Golf), and students in their first year of the Foundation Degree in Golf Operations Management. Also, competing were various past students that have now gone on to employment within the industry.
The Championships form an important part of the golf students' course work. Programme Manager Martin Hammond PGA Professional said, "It teaches them how to compete at a high level, and conduct themselves in a social and competitive environment."
The Handicap Champion was Aaron Robertson currently studying for the Foundation Degree in Golf Operations Management, and the Scratch Champion was Danny Hoskins who is in the second year of the ND in Sport (Golf). Awards were presented at the evening dinner also held at St Mellion, by Duchy College Vice Principal Andrew Counsell.
Despite battling against the elements in the second round, the Championships were once again extremely successful, and the students proved to be excellent ambassadors for the college, which is extremely proud to support them.
