A local Women's Institute (WI) were welcomed to Duchy College Rosewarne this week as they enjoyed a personal tour of the College by the agriculture students.

The students had to host a visit by the public for one of their modules and the Praze-an-Beeble WI ladies were only too happy to be involved. The ladies (and some husbands!) were welcomed to the College and paired up with students for a personal tour of the site and facilities.

Agriculture student Matt Wall, 18, from Marazion, said: “It’s been a really nice morning, I was a bit nervous at first but the ladies are lovely and giving the tour has been absolutely fine. It’s nice to do something different like this.”

Fellow student Chris Lea, 18, from Constantine, added: “I like talking to the public so doing the tour has been quite fun and it’s great that we’ve got nice weather too!”

The group explored the College grounds including the nursery, potting sheds, pond area, animal care units and agriculture facilities. The students explained how to use the cattle trial equipment as well as discussing job roles on farms and environmental issues with the ladies.

Andrew Counsell, Head of Duchy College, said: “We take great pride in welcoming the general public to our campuses; both of our sites have lots to offer and events like this prove the perfect opportunity to show off our wonderful facilities.”
