College celebrates Student Promise at awards

Cornwall College Saltash held its annual Student Promise Awards recently where students who have made significant achievements across all the curriculum areas were celebrated and presented with certificates to mark their efforts.

The awards were broken down into three categories consisting of Achievement, Endeavour and Progress. The nominated students were judged on what they had managed to achieve so far this academic year and how they have progressed on their chosen course.

 

The ceremony was hosted by Head of Faculty at the College, Peter Castell, who said: “The Promise Awards are a great way to celebrate the achievements of our students and everyone has had a fantastic afternoon. I am extremely proud to be able to join them in marking their achievements today.”

 

The winning students were:

For the Achievement category - Jaydie Grehan (Hairdressing), Jess Prout (Health and Social Care), Liam Escritt (Business), Luke Wilson (Business), Paul Deveney (Vocational Options), Sergiu Filiuta (Access) and Susan Ball (Access).

For the Endeavour category - James Jones (Vocational Studies), Natalie Veale (Business), Roxanne Byrne (Access) and Natasha Neville (Return to Learn).

For the Progress category - Aleasha Havard (Vocational Studies), Amelia Theis (Health and Social Care), Chelsi Hancock (Travel and Tourism), Kathryn Aldridge (Access), Paul Walford (Access) and Raminta Southard (Access).   

 

Pat Lloyd, Senior Tutor at Saltash, said: “It’s great to be able to hold these awards so the students can see that all their hard work has been recognised. Many of the efforts made by our learners have been fantastic so far this year.”

 

Dave Linnell, Principal of Cornwall College added: “We always like to recognise our students’ achievements and give them the support and praise they deserve. We are proud of the efforts of all our learners and to celebrate those who have been outstanding is something we are always delighted to do.”
