Students Celebrate Their Achievements

Students at Duchy College's Centre at the Royal Cornwall Showground gathered with family, friends and staff to celebrate their achievements at the Prize Giving Ceremony on 23 September.
In his address Steven Parsons, Principal of Duchy College congratulated all of the students saying that "Wadebridge is a very special place& and every student is encouraged to achieve". He highlighted the excellent record that the Centre maintains having achieved 100% in terms of NVQ achievement and retention and "must be one of the premier achievers in the country". The friendliness of the Wadebridge Centre was also very much in evidence as anecdotes about many of the students entertained the guests.
The Centre has a strong focus on agriculture and many of the students attending arrived at the ceremony after an evening's work on their farms. One student even arrived on his tractor with seconds to spare before the ceremony began.
Certificates and awards were presented by Councillor Philip Tregunna, Chairman, Cornwall County Council, including The Penventinnie Award for Best All Round Student 2002-2003 awarded to Luke Old.
