Head of Wadebridge retires

386_1.jpg

John Dyer retired at the end of August after 25 years with the Cornwall College agricultural department and Duchy College.

In 1990 he was given the task of reopening a centre at the Royal Cornwall showground. Now the centre deals with about 100 students a week and presently has the largest level four farm management classes in the whole country.

The value his students place on John can be judged by the fact that more than 200 turned out to give him a surprise party in the members' pavilion on the showground.

In his retirement he will have time to develop his hobby of restoring vintage tractors. He also intends to take up his former interest in ploughing and compete in matches once again. The new Head of Wadebridge is Chris Lutey.
