60th anniversary to be celebrated
In 1948 a group of young women attended a commerce course at Cornwall College, back then it was known as ?Camborne Tech? and they learnt a host of skills that would equip them for the working world.
Now they are coming together once again to celebrate the 60th anniversary of their good times at college and are calling out to any fellow students who studied at the college that year to join them. The reunion, organised by Margaret Hosken of St Buryan, will be at the Yacht Inn on Friday 7th March at noon.
During the 15month course, where they studied typing, shorthand, bookkeeping, English and arithmetic, the girls developed quite a reputation around the college for their lively cabarets, poems and dances.
Now mostly in their seventies, they are looking forward to getting together once again with their fellow classmates to relive the good times they had.
Event organiser Margaret Hosken said, "I discovered most of us have stayed in the area, and a chance meeting last year brought me back in to touch with quite a few of my old class mates. The surprising thing is we don't seem to have changed much over the years!"
If you would like to attend, please contact one of the class members for further details: Margaret Hosken 01736 810349, Joy Horn (nee Simpson) 01326 572095, Peggy Pickin (nee Ollis) 01737 365865.
