Twin brothers studying at Cornwall College plan to take the county's hair and beauty industry by storm in the future, as they complete the first part of their respective courses at the Camborne campus.

Soufian and Wassim Imchichi, 18 from Redruth, are both enrolled on vocational courses within the Hair and Beauty department at Cornwall College Camborne, and plan to continue their studies by progressing on to a higher level qualification before embarking on a career within the industry.

Wassim, who has completed his Hairdressing Diploma Level 2, said: "Even though we do have a twin thing where we can tell each other's moods and even think the same thing sometimes, this wasn't something we consciously decided to do. I've always liked working with hair and I've been working in a local barber's shop since I was 16, so I knew what I wanted to do."

Soufian, who has just finished his Beauty Therapy NVQ Diploma Level 2, added: "No it definitely wasn't a decision we made together. I actually studied a course in electro-technical installation here before deciding I wanted to study beauty, even though I've always been interested in it."

The boys have also not ruled out the possibility of joining forces to open a salon together in the future.

Wassim commented: "It seems to be a bit of a running joke at the moment! But who knows? We get on really well and we've both enjoyed studying our courses, so maybe we will open a salon together one day. I definitely want to study my Hairdressing Diploma Level 3 at the College first, and I've also looked into working overseas and on cruise ships."

Soufian added: "We have talked about going into business together but we'll have to wait and see. I would like to work in a commercial salon, or even go mobile for a while. I really want to stay on at Cornwall College and study my Beauty Therapy Diploma Level 3 first though, to learn as much as possible from the lecturers here, who have just been brilliant."

Bobby Northcott, Curriculum Area Manager for Hair & Beauty at Cornwall College Camborne, said: "The boys have been great characters to have in our department; always smiling, polite and helpful to staff and students alike. Both of them have worked hard to complete their courses and have produced good standards of work. They've been a pleasure to teach and I'm sure they'll go on to be successful in whatever they decide to do."

Don McKenzie, Head of Cornwall College Camborne, said: "Soufian and Wassim are both very driven and determined to succeed in the industry, and it's good to see such enthusiasm in our students. I am pleased they have enjoyed their time with us and that they are so keen to come back in September and continue their studies. I wish them every success for the future."
