Plan your future with Cornwall College St Austell

CORNWALL College St Austell will be throwing open its doors open on Thursday 2nd February to give prospective students of all ages the chance to explore the College and its resources and get the advice they need for their future career.

Those who attend the event, held in the A-level Centre from 5pm until 7.30pm, will be able to get a feel for student life when they meet staff and students, attend a campus tour and gather information from tutors on the range of courses and specialist facilities available at the College.

 

The College is communicating the message ‘Upgrade, turn your talent into a career’ with visitors being offered financial advice, information on transport, learning support and student union, as well as learning about various career options.

 

Gemma Haywood from St Austell, who is currently studying Travel & Tourism Extended Diploma, explained: “Travelling is my passion and I wanted to make it my career. I came to Cornwall College St Austell as it had a good reputation and offered a course that is perfect for me. There are so many opportunities around college to help you grow and experience life.”

 

Cornwall College St Austell offers both full and part-time courses in a range of subjects from A-levels in Law, Photography and Physics to Diplomas in Dance, Sport and IT and Apprenticeships in Hairdressing, Plumbing and Catering.

 

Dave Linnell, Principal of Cornwall College, said: “Our excellent range of courses gives students the best chance of going on to further study or to get their foot on the career ladder. Our tutors are specialists in their fields and enjoy passing on their knowledge to new learners.

Thomas Standfield, from Liskeard who is in his second year studying A-levels in English, Film Studies, Media and Sociology, commented: “I re-took my GCSEs here last year and enjoyed being at the college as the facilities and teaching standards are great. On our course we have looked into films, background of Hollywood, classic novels and much more.”

 

Open Events are being held on all Cornwall College sites on Thursday 2nd February, including Camborne, Newquay, Saltash and St Austell and Falmouth Marine School.
