Students to Benefit from FREE Transport
Cornwall College is offering free bus transport to new and returning students from September 2012 as part of a new support package for those eligible.
Students aged 16 to 18 can apply for help from the Further Education Bursary Fund which will cover the cost of a year’s bus pass.
To qualify for free transport, students will need to live more than three miles away from the College and live in a household where the total annual income is less than £31,000.
Peter Sampson, Corporate Head of Learner Services at Cornwall College, said: “At Cornwall College we strive to do the very best for our students and this means supporting them pastorally as well as academically. The new transport offer is more inclusive than previous offers with a higher household income threshold and takes into account our current students who will no longer receive the Education Maintenance Allowance in the next academic year. This is an excellent offer meaning that students will not have to be concerned about how they will get to college.”
The offer will benefit significant numbers of 16 to 18 year old students at campuses across the county in Camborne, Newquay, Saltash and St Austell as well as Duchy College in Stoke Climsland and Rosewarne, and Falmouth Marine School.
Those not eligible for funding support will be entitled to benefit from college transport at a rate of £300 for the 2012/13 academic year.
