Students celebrate Skills for Life achievements
Students from the Preparation for Life and Work faculty at Cornwall College Camborne celebrated their achievements at their annual awards ceremony held on the campus recently.
Held in the Students' Union building on the Camborne campus, the awards recognised students' achievements from across the Skills for Life courses run at the College.
Simon Isaacs, Curriculum Area Manager at Cornwall College Camborne, said: "This has been a brilliant event for the students and it's great to see how far they've come in the time they've been at the College. The majority of the students in our faculty have some degree of learning difficulty or disability, so we assess each individual student's needs and abilities and build the courses around them. This means that our team of staff can provide learners with the optimum amount of support and guidance they need whilst they study with us."
Together with awards for the Best Achiever and Special Endeavour certificates for each course, there were also some special awards presented by the faculty, which recognised specific student achievements.
Awarded for the hard work and exemplary effort shown on their courses, the Barry Atkinson Endeavour Trophy was presented to both Albert Head, 17 from Redruth, who has just completed his Preparation for Transition College Certificate Entry Level 3 (Enterprise), and Tanisha Jane, 19 from Truro, who has recently finished her Job Coaching and Supported Employment College Certificate Entry Level 3.
Tom Clements, 19 from Falmouth, who has also recently completed his Job Coaching and Supported Employment College Certificate Entry Level 3, was awarded the Tamsin James Student of the Year Shield, in recognition of his sheer hard work, level of commitment and the excellent progress he has made whilst overcoming his learning difficulties.
