Building their way to successful futures
BUILDING Craft and Building Services students from Cornwall College St Austell were rewarded for their hard work and determination this week (25th June), when staff hosted a special prize-giving ceremony in the College's Keay Theatre.
Prestigious awards were presented by Debbie Wilshire, Head of Cornwall College St Austell and local employers who support the College, to those students who have completed their course and demonstrated exceptional diligence and success.
Apart from the traditional trophies, students who won special awards also walked away with cordless drills, toolkits, toolbelts, vouchers, tube cutters, screwdriver sets and much more, courtesy of the evening’s sponsors: The Carlyon Bay Development, Cornwall College Business, Denmans Electrical Wholesalers Ltd, Plumbase, Plumbing Trade Supplies, Bradfords Building Supplies Ltd, Cornish Industrial Supplies, Cornish Lime Company, Construction Skills, Cromwell, Gilbert & Goode Ltd, Velux and Walter Bailey Par Ltd.
Winner of the Building Services Student of the Year and the Best Plumbing Level 2 Apprentice sponsored by Plumbase was Rob Figures. Presented with a trophy and a tube cutter, Rob’s tutor said: “Having consistently worked extremely hard throughout the year and overcoming hurdles along the way, Rob is very deserving of this award. He has shown great discipline and determination and even completed his work two weeks before the finish date; I am confident in the knowledge that he will go on to develop a very successful career in the plumbing industry.”
