Cornwall College produces Britain's best!
Former foundation degree Renewable Energy Technologies student Matt Hastings has recently been named the Energy Services and Technology Association (ESTA) UK Energy Manager of the Year.
This is a prestigious award for Matt, who since graduating has been the energy manager at the Eden Project, as he has beaten off competition from Sainsbury's, Northern Rail and BT. Matt was praised by the judges at the awards ceremony as ‘a great role model and example to others'.
The FdSc Renewable Energy Technologies course at Cornwall College offers students modules of study including Thermodynamics, Carbon Management and Solar Energy.
Matt has achieved many things since graduating from the foundation degree course in 2007. Upon winning this national award Matt said: "I would not be where I am now without the education I received at Cornwall College. It's that simple."
Dave Linnell, Principal of Cornwall College, said: "This is a remarkable achievement for Matt. He secured a very important role with a local company once completing his degree and has been recognised for his work on a national scale. I wish him the very best of luck in the future."
