Cornwall College students are hosting Iconic Cornwall at the Camborne campus on 17th April to celebrate the unique identity of Cornwall and the arrival of the Olympic Flame.

The event, which consists of a conference with guest speakers focusing on the Cornish tourism industry in the morning and a series of Cornish-themed workshops in the afternoon, has been organised and developed by a group of Events Management foundation degree students as part of their course.

Tanya Bellingham, Curriculum Area Manager for Travel & Tourism, said: "The students have worked really hard to co-ordinate a great event, which not only benefits the tourism industry and gives delegates the opportunity to discuss important issues, but also the local community by celebrating our unique culture and heritage."

Featuring free workshops on Cornish language, pasty-crimping, Cornish sounds and visuals and the inspirational Cornish culture, the event provides a fantastic opportunity to experience something different for an afternoon, and learn more about our county in the process at a time when the country is celebrating Adults Learners' Week (12-19 May).

Dave Linnell, Principal of Cornwall College, said: "This promises to be a superb event, with some great guest speakers and a variety of interesting workshops, which I can't wait to try. I hope the event proves a great success for all involved."
